The tourist-favoured peak SITNO (1,009 m) with its ruins and fascinating views is shrouded in legends and tales reminiscent of those from The Lord of the Rings. It is considered the cradle of European tourism. The surrounding area also offers various educational trails, making it an ideal combination of exploration, exercise, and relaxation.
Banská Štiavnica
Banská Štiavnica, known as the Silver City, is one of the most romantic places in Slovakia. It has rightfully been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. When visiting, be sure not to miss the Calvary, castles, Divná Pani café, the mining museum, the botanical garden, and the mining tunnels.
SKI Salamandra resort
The resort is situated in the midst of the unique nature of the Štiavnica Hills. It offers a moderately challenging 1,450 m long ski slope with a four-seat bubble chairlift and comprehensive services. The scenic landscapes can also be enjoyed from the local cross-country skiing trails.
The lakes of Štiavnica
When a technical work in a country perfectly blends with nature, it becomes a small miracle. The Štiavnica ponds are among such miracles. Some of the favorites include Vindšachta, Bakomi, Evička, Ottergrund, Klinger, and Veľká Vodárenská. Most of them offer various seasonal activities.
By bike to the lakes
For mountain biking enthusiasts, the region offers more than 260 km of mountain bike trails that connect several ponds. You can choose from various routes: Hodrušská, Vyhnianska, Belianska, and the Banská Štiavnica area. The bike trails to the ponds primarily follow forest roads and paths, making them suitable even for untrained cyclists.
